Nov 21, 2025  Construction Update: Per today's Construction Project Meeting we know that all materials are onsite to complete the water main install and the crew is currently working on it.
Remaining work is to finish:
- Installing valves, flushing hydrants and anchor blocks
- Installation of a new zone meter pit by the Cherry Company
- Pressure testing and disinfection of the new lines
- Connection of individual service lines back to their meters
- Removal of the temp lines
- Restoration of the road and other disturbed ground.
- Re-vegetation will occur in the Spring.
They're already well along on the first item and plan on working Saturdays and bringing on a 2nd crew so that multiple tasks can be completed at the same time. There will be some road closures during this period but traffic plates will be installed over any open excavations outside working hours.
Provided we have no significant weather delays, the contractor feels confident that all work on the Buttonrock section of the project will be completed by December 9th, 2025

Nov 17, 2025 Regular Meeting Date Change: the water board will be hosting its monthly meeting this Wednesday, November 19th at 7pm in order to avoid schedule conflicts with the upcoming holiday. You can join the meeting on Zoom by clicking HERE.

Nov 14, 2025 Special Meeting Notice: the water board will be conducting a special meeting in person at the fire station (with Zoom access available) this Sunday, Nov 16th at 7pm local time. The purpose is to discuss HR issues. Join the Zoom feed by clicking HERE. Code is 618459.

Nov 11, 2025: Water Outage on West Side: Work continues backfilling the trench where the team replaced 150 feet of water main. They were out until 1AM this morning working on it.

Unfortunately, it appears not to have solved the water pressure problem completely. While it did resolve some leaks, the problem remains. Cam is out looking for pressure drop locations and the Wolf team and Jen are completing the water main replacement. We are currently looking for other leaks, bad valves and potential blockages. Unfortunately, I can't give you anything further at this time.

Nov 8, 2025 Water Outage on West Side: We're aware of the ongoing water outage on the "dark side" and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

October Meeting Change Notice

September 25, 2025:

Some good news from last night's board meeting:

-The bottled water order due to excess Manganese has been lifted.

-Homes that use less than 2,000 gallons in September will not be charged any additional fees for water hauling. Thank you for your continued efforts!

-The new "green sand" filter system for the treatment plant should be arriving next week, and we expect it to go online soon afterward.

-Recent rains have coincided with the return of our water rights "priority", allowing us to draw water from the creek again. Conservation is still VERY important, but this will help to ease our ongoing shortage.

-Our website is under new management, and be updated over the next few weeks to contain more info (including updates like this one) and be easier to navigate.

We're working to improve both the timeliness and the organization of the notices on this page.

September 19, 2025 : The boil order issued by CDPHE has been officially rescinded. Please note that the warning about excess Manganese is still in effect at this time. Levels have been dropping after the influx of hauled water, and we hope to have this issue resolved soon as well.

Board Let 9.1.25

TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PINEWOOD SPRINGS WATER DISTRICT
The water emergency continues, with a general outage affecting everyone on the West side of Route 36.
The cause is that, although we are hauling water as rapidly as possible, we have been unable to keep up
with usage. As a result, water levels in the storage tanks on that side have dropped so low that there is
insufficient hydraulic head to maintain pressure. We presently expect the water outage will last all day today.
We delayed using reservoir water as long as possible due to the high manganese levels. Yesterday, we
started tapping the reservoir as an emergency measure, first flushing the line and diluting the water to
reduce the manganese concentration. It is still higher than the recommended level for health: 0.3 mg/L for
infants under 6 months and 0.5 mg/L for adults.
A complicating factor is that manganese reacts with chlorine, pulling down our disinfectant levels. We must
then add more chlorine to make up the shortage. We are standing by the pumps, restarting and adding
chlorine as needed.
These factors have prompted two health advisories: one to use bottled water for infants and formula, and
one to boil water for drinking due to loss of pressure in the lines.
With the help of the Fire Department, we are distributing these advisories to all members of the community.
Bottled water is available at the Fire House for anyone who needs it, and we will have more at the water
plant. Just let us know.
As soon as we can get the water levels in the tanks high enough, we will restart water to the affected area.
The health advisories will remain in effect until we can get the manganese levels down in our finished water.
We are doing everything to expedite installation of our Pilot Treatment Plant to address the manganese
problem directly.
We are receiving water from several haulers. We expect that the cost of hauled water will average out to at
least $0.20 per gallon.
Please, please do everything you can to CONSERVE WATER. We are working as hard as we can to get it
flowing again, and need your help.
